Doctor of Philosophy (Southeast Asian Studies)

Program Description

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Southeast Asian Studies is an advanced academic program designed to foster an in-depth understanding of the diverse cultures, histories, societies, and languages that constitute the dynamic region of Southeast Asia. This program is committed to producing scholars and experts capable of contributing significantly to the academic discourse, policy development, and cultural understanding related to Southeast Asia. The Ph.D. in Southeast Asian Studies aims to produce scholars with a deep appreciation for the rich cultural tapestry of Southeast Asia and a nuanced understanding of the region's complex challenges and opportunities. Graduates will be well-equipped to engage in academic research, policy analysis, cultural diplomacy, and international relations, making meaningful contributions to the global discourse on Southeast Asia.


 

Program Outcomes:

Conduct a competent historical assessment of the formation and organization of the ASEAN member-states, producing scholars and experts capable of contributing significantly to the academic discourse, policy development, and cultural understanding of Southeast Asia particularly its society, education, and current trends and issues in different disciplines.  (Specify: Define the Areas)

Guide political leaders and resource administrators in maintaining harmonious relationships among ASEAN nations and the rest of the world

Direct the constituents in properly observing rules and policies in cross-cultural differences

Protect the environment and preserve the ecosystem and sustain the economic welfare of the society. 

Conduct research concerning different areas in Southeast Asia
