CEU Concert Band

The CEU Concert Band was born in April 2008 with just three young breed of musicians and with its Musical Director and Conductor, Mr. Fredeline R. Parin, the former Principal Trumpeter of The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, and at the same time, a faculty member at the CEU Conservatory of Music, UP College of Music, and St. Stephen High School. The CEU Concert Band grew to be one of the finest bands among colleges and universities in the country. With the three pioneering members of the band, Mr Kris Anthony Samaniego and Mr. Joemarie Bugatan who are both from the CEU Conservatory of Music, together with John Rey Mojica from the School of Nutrition and Hospitality Management, the band at present has 33 members displaying marks of excellence in their performances on all occasions they are invited.

The CEU Concert Band has performed at the Concert at the Park in Luneta, and had a Valentine Concert at Paco Park Presents. It has also played its great music upon invitation at St. Stephen High School in Binondo during the music appreciation hour of the students and at Trace College in Los Banos, Laguna for the school’s SANTINIG program. The band was also a guest performer in the Love Song for a Savior of Marikina Christian Integrated School in Marikina, City.

With the power of its music, the CEU Concert Band has annually performed Christmas concerts on campus and in the cultural celebration of the University in honor of its founder, Doña Librada Avelino .

CEU Folk Dance Troupe

In June 2002, Centro Escolar University conceived an addition to the established CEU performing groups—the CEU Folk Dance Troupe. Its goal is to promote Filipino culture, develop the talents of students in dance and increase awareness in the importance of dance as a vehicle for discipline and culture which are essential part of human life. Its first artistic director was no less than the late National Artist for Dance, Ramon Arevalo-Obusan. Mr. Marciano Viri is the choreographer, dance director and trainer. 

Through the years, the CEU Folk Dance Troupe has continued to wow its audience on all of its performances. With an intensive training every semester, the group already staged several cultural presentations like the first “Sayaw Pilipino Handog sa Mundo,” which was very successful and well applauded. 

From then on, the group has performed in different occasions inside and outside the University such as the 2003 CEU Grand Alumni Homecoming held in the Coconut Palace and the National Athletic Association of Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) Opening Ceremony in Makati Coliseum. . On several occasions, the CEUFDT has performed at the historic Manila Hotel to grace the late Dr. Emilio Yap’s birthday celebration. 

In November 2003, the CEUFDT presented its second annual presentation entitled, “Sayaw Pilipino Handog sa Mundo” Part 2 with a repertoire of varied selections of well-chosen Filipino dances, showcasing once again the group’s high level of performance which won them an invitation to perform in the 2004 and 2005 Sari-saring Sayaw, Sama-samang Galaw at the CCP. From 2002-2006, the CEUFDT has been invited by the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, resident folk dance company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines to participate in their season performance at the CCP namely: Vamos A Belen Series, Unpublished Dances Series, Mystic Asia, Realms of Fire and other CCP Productions. 

The following were the major performances of the CEUFDT on campus and other venues upon invitation by organizations and agencies:

  • 2007- ASEAN Ministerial Meeting Gala Night at the Malacanang Palace which was attended by different Heads-of-State of the ASEAN Countries and its Dialogue partners held in Cebu City and  at the PICC Reception Hall in 2008.
  • 2009- “Eine Welt,” a United Nations Celebration which featured traditional dances of neighboring ASEAN and Pacific Countries namely: Brunei Darussalam, Hawaii, Indonesia, Laos, New Zealand, and Malaysia, .
  • 2010- “Rhyme and Rhythm” for its Annual presentation.
  • 2011-featured performer for Philtrust Bank 99th Anniversary and Manila Hotel’s 99th Anniversary both held at the Manila Hotel. In that same year, CEUFDT participated in the celebration of World Youth Day held in Ateneo de Manila broadcasting the DT’s performance live in Spain. Before the year ended, the CCP invited the CEUFDT to be the featured artist for their Filipiniana Sunsets - Arts for the Masses Project and the annual Pasinaya, CCP Open House Festival wherein different performing arts groups were featured.

Due to its commitment in the promotion of Culture and the Arts, the CEUFDT mounted the following productions: 

  • “Pagpupugay, Pasasalamat sa Sining at Kultura” in 2011
  • “Rizal: Larawan ng Isang Bayani” in 2012
  • “Saludo: A Salute to Excellence Through Dance” and “Haere Mai: A Taste of Polynesian Culture” in 2013
  • In “Ili: The Cordillera Community” in 2014
  • APEC Summit  in Tagaytay 2015
  • “Bungkos: Celebrating the Harvest of Excellence” in 2017 which was a reunion concert participated in by Alumni members. Also, the group participated in the first-ever “Indak Pilipinas” where they performed “Lumin-Awa” at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

CEUFDT performed for the different heads-of-state of the ASEAN Summit Opening Ceremony, ASEAN 50th Anniversary and ASEAN Closing Ceremony.

In 2019, CEUFDT was selected as one of the performers for the 50th Anniversary of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and featured performers for the 30th SEA Games Opening Ceremony together with different Manila-based schools. To date, CEUFDT regularly performs at the annual Pasinaya: CCP Open House Festival

CEU Singers Manila

The Centro Escolar University Singers Manila, or also known as CEU Singers Manila, is the official resident choir of the Centro Escolar University (Mendiola Campus), Manila, Philippines. The group is under the hands of Prof. Angelito E. Ayran Jr., the head of Centro Escolar University Conservatory of Music. CEU Singers Manila is composed of male and female students from the different programs of the university and CEU alumni who are passionately dedicated to the choral art. CEU Singers Manila was formed in June 2011 with the hopes of promoting Filipino culture and talent through choral singing. The group performs large varieties of songs in their repertoire such as classical, folk, kundiman, pop, and sacred pieces. The group has performed on different occasions including cultural shows, special events, and Lessons and Carols inside the University and various engagements off-campus.  

They have also bagged Gold and Silver awards at the 2nd Vietnam International Choir Competition in Hue, Vietnam in 2012 and have earned Silver diplomas in three categories at the 10th Anniversary of A Voyage of Songs 2013, in Bangkok, Thailand. In 2014, the group also joined MUSICA FEUROPA and made it to the finals. In the same year, the group became one of the semi-finalists in the MBC Choral Competition.

In 2015, the group was a Grand Finalist at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Because of the various competitions that the group had joined in the past years, the CEU Singers Manila was a recipient of the 2015 Aliw Awards Foundation for Best Choral Group. The group garnered 3 Gold Diploma awards, Chamber Choir Category Champion, and Grand Prix finalist at the recent 9th Orientale Concentus International Choral Competition in Singapore. They won the 2nd Prize National Award at the recent National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) 2017. In 2019, they won four Gold Prize Awards, Category winner, and Grand Prix Finalist at 9th Bali International Choral Festival and Competitions in Bali, Indonesia, and two Gold Awards at the 12th Orientale Concentus International Choral Competition in Singapore.

Today, to be at par with the outstanding choral groups locally and abroad, and to meet the new global challenges and standards of choral music and artistry, the group continues to work for excellence and further accomplishments, carrying with them the name of their Alma Mater, their country, and high hopes for distinction and success.

CEU Singers Malolos

CEU Singers Malolos, formerly known as CEU Malolos Chorale, was founded in 1998. The group was formed at the height of the Philippine Independence Centennial celebration. This group is one of the prides of CEU Malolos and the Province of Bulacan. CEU Singers Malolos has been an active performing group during special events in the province, region, and even in some national and international affairs. They have once proven their worth by becoming the recipient of the 1st Honorable Mention award in the 2002 National Music Competitions for Young Artists or NAMCYA College Choir Category held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. It was the first time for a Bulacan-based choir to bag such recognition. To date, no chorale group has duplicated the victory so far. In 2009, they received the coveted recognition for the youth, the Gintong Kabataan Award – Performing Arts - Group Category, which was conferred by the Provincial Government of Bulacan.  

From then on, this singing ensemble has become the ambassadors of goodwill, for it doesn’t only promote the good name of the university but likewise fosters the rich cultural heritage throughout the country and the world. 

In 2017, CEU Singers-Malolos participated and bagged three silver diplomas in three different categories during the 10th Orientale Concentus, an International Choral Festival in Singapore. 

The group also participated in the following events:

  • 2018 – MBC National Choral Competition (Semi-Finalist)
  • 2017 -  Fiesta Republica Awit Makabayan Chorale (2nd Runner Up)
  • 2017- Valenzuela Himig Pasko 2017 (2nd Runner Up)
  • 2016- MBC National Choral Competition - OPen Category (Grand Finalist)
  • 2014- CLTV 36 Tinig ng Pasko Choral Competition (1st Runner Up)

The CEU Singers Malolos is under the tutelage of musical director/trainor/conductor/adviser Mr. German O. De Guzman and their consultant is the Vice President for CEU Malolos, Dr. Maria Flordeliza L. Anastacio.      

CEU Singers Makati

The CEU Singers Makati is the official resident choral group of the Centro Escolar University Makati campus. Formed in June 15, 2011, the singing group helps promote the University through their performances inside and outside the campus. The members come from the different schools/colleges/departments in the CEU Makati campus. These talented students join forces to create a group that is willing to serve the school and dedicate their time to sing and develop their gift of music. The CEU Singers Makati performs yearly at the major CEU events and activities such as the CEU Cultural Festival, Escolarian Lessons and Carols and the Escolarian Choral Festival. They perform together with other performing groups of the University. 

In 2014, the group embarked on their first international tour and joined the 3rd Bali International Choral Competition in Bali, Indonesia. The group successfully won and brought home four God Medals from the Show Choir and Youth Choir Categories.  Under the skillful hands of Prof. Lester Frederick G. Delgado, the CEU Singers Makati aims to hone and develop their skills by singing different types of music.

CEU Concert Band Grant

All qualified members will receive the following discounts on tuition fee:

  • 50% - first and second years of membership
  • 75% - third year of membership
  • 100% - fourth year of membership

Full or partial discounts on miscellaneous fees may be granted to accomplished band members which shall depend on the performance rendered during the past semester as determined by the Band Director.


Qualifications:

  • A bona fide student of CEU
  • Musically talented and with high level instrumental performance
  • Must undergo and pass talent audition
  • A team player

 

CEU Folk Dance Troupe Grant

All qualified members of CEUFDT will receive the following discounts on tuition fee:

  • 50%- first and second years of membership
  • 75%- third year of membership
  • 100%- fourth year of membership

Full or partial discounts on miscellaneous fees may be granted to accomplished dancers which shall depend on the performance rendered during the past semester as determined by the Dance Director.

Qualifications:

  • Bona fide CEU student
  • With pleasing personality
  • With graceful and versatile dancing skills

 

CEU Singers Grant

All qualified members of the CEU Singers will receive the following discounts on tuition fee:

  • 50% - first year and second years of membership
  • 75% - third year of membership
  • 100% - fourth year of membership

Full or partial discounts on miscellaneous fees may be granted to accomplished singers which shall depend on the performance rendered during the past semester as determined by the Musical Director.

Qualifications:

  • First year of membership
  • Undergo and pass talent audition
