Centro Escolar University (CEU) and the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) in British Columbia, Canada, explored potential academic collaborations during a meeting with Dr. Daryl Smith, UFV’s Director, International, on October 13, 2026.
The discussions focused on prospective initiatives to expand international academic engagement and create cross-border learning opportunities for faculty and students. These include the possible appointment of a UFV professor as adjunct faculty at the CEU Graduate School, virtual student mobility opportunities through the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP), and the development of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) activities in Social Work.
As a next step, both institutions agreed to arrange a follow-up meeting involving the deans and/or program heads of their respective Social Work programs. The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the proposed initiatives in greater detail, clarify areas of mutual interest, and identify practical steps toward their possible implementation.
The discussions reflect CEU and UFV’s shared interest in strengthening international linkages and fostering cross-cultural learning through academic partnerships. Through these prospective initiatives, both institutions aim to broaden opportunities for academic exchange and collaborative learning beyond geographical boundaries.
