Centro Escolar University’s very own alumna, Maria Santos-Greaves, was listed as one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World in 2015 by the Filipina Women’s Network (FWN). She was also voted as one of the Top 25 Immigrants across Canada in the same year.

To date, Santos-Greaves is the only female immigrant in Canada to own four hearing care clinics. She leads Surrey Hearing Care Inc. as its president.

Maria was born and raised in Pasig City. After getting a degree in Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at CEU, she worked in a hearing clinic for eight years. It was her sister who migrated first in Canada. Then one day, she decided to visit her sister. She had no plans of staying there, until she met her husband. In 1999, her new journey started. She experienced working in a dollar store, sold registered Education Savings Plan and even worked at a call center.

Despite all her achievements, she remained humble as she pays forward to the community through a mobile hearing clinic van. She provides free hearing tests and gives lectures at a number of community activities.

After a number of years in Canada, Santos-Greaves will be in the Philippines this coming August 21 to 31 for the book launching of the Filipina Women’s Network as part of the 13th Filipina Leadership Global Summit. The book “Disrupt 2” contains a chapter that was written by Maria which was titled “Learning Management from the Most Unlikely”. The four-day summit will be held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Mactan, Cebu on August 21 to 24.
