Centro Escolar University School of Pharmacy alumnus Dr. Ruben Zarate, Jr. aced the Diplomate Examination of the Philippine Board of Rehabilitation Medicine by landing as Top 1.
“Being a frontliner inspired me to give my best because taking an exam amidst a pandemic was very challenging. So, I had to prove to myself and to others that even if there were challenges, I would overcome them”, shared Dr. Zarate. More significantly, it was on the day of his examination that her daughter was born and this makes that day extra special.
His family who has shown unwavering support inspired and motivated him. He also acknowledges his consultants, whom he was able to work with, for their continued guidance. Above all, he offers thanksgiving to God for the strength and courage He provided him.
“CEU School of Pharmacy played a big role in preparing me to where I am now – from the rigors of academic coursework to varied extra-curricular activities. The professors and their effective teaching styles helped me pass and ace my subjects. Outside academics, CEU also opened opportunities for me to hone my people skills through sports and leadership activities. I believe that these are important in being a good doctor. It’s not just all about the knowledge, but it’s also about how you treat and deal with people around you, especially with your patients”, said Dr. Zarate.
Dr. Zarate finished his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in CEU in 2009. His active involvement as secretary and vice president of the Pharmacy Student Council from 2007 to 2009 earned him a Leadership Award when he graduated. Presently, he is connected with Tarlac Medical Center Hospital, Central Luzon Doctor’s Hospital, Jecsons Medical Center Hospital, and David Physical Therapy Clinic
