Centro Escolar University alumna Sthefanie Ventura carrying her skills on the court as a former CEU Lady Scorpion plays now for the Parañaque Lady Aces, one of the competing teams in this season of Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL).
During her online interview in one of the episodes of WNBL Baseline, she was commended for her excellent performance of six points with three rebounds in 13 minutes of their first game.
“Gusto kong ibigay yung best ko kapag ipinapasok ako. Hindi pwedeng lahat scorer sa team, dapat may defense din”, said Sthefanie.
Sthefanie decided to join in the WNBL because she missed being able to play basketball since after graduation, she focused on her career as a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Management. She also felt that it is a great opportunity to be a part of a professional league.
Her skills are undoubtedly exceptional after making an impressive record in the WNBL draft Combine where she topped two agility tests by finishing the ¾ court sprint in just 3.18 seconds while clocking in at 12.66 seconds in the lane.
She revealed that during her elementary days, she represented her school in the track and field and volleyball competitions. It was in her 4th year high school when she became a part of a basketball team for a municipal athletic meet.
The year 2013 was the start of her journey as a member of the varsity team of CEU where she experienced five championship games. Sthefanie believed she owed her basketball skills to the University. Her coaches and seniors were very skilled and supportive.
The 5-foot-8 athlete also thanked the WNBL Management for pursuing to hold the league despite the present situation and said that the Parañaque Lady Aces will surely showcase much improved performance once the games resume.
