With the theme “Celebrating Life: A Call to Rekindle the Christian Faith and Preparation for Lenten Season”, the University Ministry of Centro Escolar University conducted the annual recollection for its faculty and non-teaching personnel on two different sessions to have a time of spiritual reflection after a very challenging year.
Dr. Teresa Perez, Vice President for Academic Affairs, in her welcome remarks during the Faculty recollection recalled on how the pandemic has drastically changed everyone’s daily lives—from the work from home arrangement to the online teaching and learning setup.
“The recollection this afternoon is a time for us to be able to get away from our work and make reflection on anything that matters to us. This is the time to reflect on the past year—our emotions, our interactions and responses, if they are all in the light of Christ and what He is calling us to do. This is the time to soften our hearts and to understand the situations and empathize with others”, said Dr. Perez.
Rev. Fr. Andrew Reception led breaking of the bread of life. His message revolved around the lessons of a mature faith and emphasized that “in the experience of the living faith, we are reminded that faith is life. It is not something stagnant and static that is confined in the past events, because it is a living faith.”
Selected teaching and non-teaching employees also shared inspiring testimonies of how their faith was tested during this time of the pandemic and how God’s blessings poured into their lives.
This annual event was spearheaded by Dr. Sofia Magdalena Robles, Coordinator, CEU University Ministry. Every week, the “Sunday with the Word of God”, a reading of the Liturgy of the Word with reflection by Rev. Fr. Rindo Karripai, University Caplain is also being livestreamed in the official facebook page of the University Ministry.
