CEU MedTech Alumni Leads PAMET-USA and PAMET-Philippines as Presidents

Centro Escolar University School of Medical Technology alumni, Mrs. Rowena Pablico and Ms. Luella Vertucio both presently occupy the highest position in the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET) Inc. USA and Philippines, respectively.

Apart from being the President of the organization, Mrs. Pablico and Ms. Vertucio hold prominent work designations related to their field of expertise.

Mrs. Pablico is the Laboratory Manager of Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles, California, USA.  Her advocacies, among others are helping Filipino medical technologists and clinical laboratory scientists by offering continuing professional education and review courses to new migrant workers. She collaborates with different clinical laboratory organizations in the USA like the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) to streamline the immigration process, and other programs to uplift the laboratory professionals.

In 2022, she led PAMET-USA delegates in the 2022 Legislative Symposium in Washington, D.C. to work on the immigration of Filipino medical technologists. This helps in augmenting the long-term workforce shortage of medical laboratory professionals in the United States.

In the same way, Ms. Vertucio has contributed to the growth of laboratory professionals. She works as Laboratory Manager and Chief Medical Technologist of Providence Hospital in Quezon City. She first became an officer of PAMET Philippines in 2005 and since then, she has participated in numerous and noteworthy programs all aimed in uplifting the condition of medical technologists in the country.

Some of her awards include Most Outstanding Employee of the De Los Santos Medical Center, Most Valuable Professional at the 5th Congress of the Asian Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists in South Korea, and the Japan Association of Medical Technology Professional during the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Scientists in Florence, Italy.

Mrs. Pablico finished her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology degree in 1989, while Mrs. Vertucio was in 1988.

“Mrs. Pablico and Ms. Vertucio are epitome of CEU’s philosophy, Science and Virtue. Both are not only competent in the medical technology field but are imbued with sterling character and values, with hearts for others. We are proud of these alumni,” said Dr. Charito Bermido, Dean of School of Medical Technology.
