CEU Students’ Invention Ace The Bright Ideas Challenge

Centro Escolar University Senior High School students nailed the 2nd spot for the inaugural “The Bright Ideas Challenge” (TBIC) by the Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation held at The Mind Museum in Bonifacio Global City. 

In search for an innovative energy solution that will sustainably power future cities, the C3RF Nexus Team composed of Jhon Cedric Arcilla, CJ Lorenz Dimalaluan, Chandler Manlongat, and Raven Frias with Mr. Franco Rigor Legatub as adviser, created a prototype of a Biofuel Production and Hydroponics System Integration. This project aims to provide the city another energy source that is clean and renewable through biofuel production using a strain E. coli with integration of aquaponics system. 

Out of 26 entries, they have been chosen to advance to the TBIC Fair and Grand Finals where the project’s prototype was presented and displayed to a panel of judges and the general public. C3RF Nexus emerged to be the second best among the ten competing teams. The winners received cash prizes as well as their school’s STEM program.
