CEU Gathers Health Professionals in its 2nd ICHP

As one of the premier education institutions known for quality health science programs, Centro Escolar University gathered health professionals for the second International Conference of Health Professionals (ICHP) last October 10-11, 2017 at the Fiesta Pavilion, The Manila Hotel.

Centered on its theme, “Optimizing the Health Professions in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals: Beyond Good Health and Well-Being”, the two-day event commenced with the talk of Dr. Benjamin Lane, Technical Officer in Health Systems Strengthening of the World Health Organization Western Pacific Regional Office (WHO WPRO) as keynote speaker.

The conference included four plenary sessions with topics on Understanding the Dynamics between Health and Development which was discussed by Dr. Esperanza Cabral, member of the CEU Hospital Inc. Board of Directors followed by Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Dr. Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial’s talk on Building Responsive and Resilient Health Systems. The second session was a discussion about Multi-Stakeholder Approach to Disaster Reduction: Role of the Health Sector by Dr. Satoru Nishikawa, Executive Director of Japan Center for Area Development Research in Tokyo, Japan. Next to him was Dr. Irene F. Fariñas, OIC Program Manager of the National Center for Pharmaceutical Access and Management of DOH who tackled Challenge of Emerging and Reemerging Infection. The sessions concluded with a discourse about Creating Alliances for Health by Dr. Jaime Galvez-Tan, President of Health Futures Foundation.

Company booths and research exhibit were also installed at the Pavilion. The research poster and papers were then presented on the second day of the event. 

The ICHP 2017 was made possible through the efforts of the CEU Health Sciences and Research and Development Foundation, Inc. with Dr. Teresita Barcelo as overall chair, Dr. Elvira Urgel as overall co-chair, and Dr. Erna Yabut as consultant.
