This new program has been enriched with specialized courses in Microbiology to meet the high demand of the industry and the academe. It aims to produce professionals who are equipped to deliver research and diagnostic services in institutions and industries on food and beverage, veterinary, pharmaceutical, environmental, medical and academic settings.
Following the prescribed curriculum, this 4-year degree program with one summer, is compliant with CHED CMO 49 Series of 2017. With 27 units of Microbiology specialization courses, students are allowed to study various microorganisms like bacteria, virus, protozoan parasites and fungi and qualify them to take the examination given by the Philippine Academy of Microbiology and become Registered Microbiologist.
The program provides students a rich training experience through the International practicum in the University of Malaya (KL, Malaysia) and Walailak University (Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand) and in local affiliates such as UP Marine Science Institute Bolinao Marine Science Laboratory, National Museum, De La Salle University-Manila and Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
Its graduates can choose from a variety of enriching employment opportunities where they can practice their chosen profession.
