PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The course is designed to serve the demand of the cosmetic industry for graduates of a four-year course with specialization on cosmetic science.
The B.S. major in Cosmetic Science is the first of its kind in the Philippines. It is intended to take effect in the First Semester of School Year 2002-2003. This program has been developed in collaboration with the Philippine Society for Cosmetic Science (PSCS), thus a fulfillment of the dream in the Philippine education to have a genuine linkage between the academe and the industry.
The program will enable students to learn the techniques in formulating cosmetics, toiletries and fragrances. The course will also provide students entrepreneural skills such that after graduation they maybe able to put up their own cosmetic industry, contributing to the economic growth of the Philippines.
The cosmetic industry will provide students 300 hours laboratory training in the field of cosmetics, toiletries and fragrances. An undergraduate research will enable the students to discover or invent new cosmetic product innovations or provide solutions to problems in cosmetic industry.
The Philippine Society for Cosmetic Science assures its graduates in their job placement in the industry.
OBJECTIVES
CEU's BS major in Cosmetic Science program is unique in that in its linkage with PSCS, talented and creative pool of practitioners in the industry will provide the instruction in the professional/ major subjects, while the basic and professional core subjects will be handled by a pool of faculty from the School of Science who are graduate degree holders.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- To learn the techniques and to develop the skills in formulating cosmetic toiletries and fragrances.
- To provide entrepreneural skills among students.
- To provide manpower for the growing cosmetic industry.
- To value the importance of natural resources in cosmetic preparations.
CUSTOMIZED COURSE
The program Customized Course for Graduate Certificate in Cosmetic Science was developed according to the needs of the industry. Courses/subjects to be offered are determined by the industry.
For those who wish to pursue further a Graduate Diploma or Diploma in Master of Science in Cosmetic Science, the subjects/courses completed in the Graduate Certificate shall be credited.
